Overview

RatSound is a physical-modeling virtual instrument built entirely from synthesis — no samples, no megabyte-heavy libraries. Seven instrument families (Strings, Brass, Woodwinds, Keys, Plucked, Mallets, and Voice) each offer multiple variants, navigated through a simple Family → Variant → Parameter flow. Every family uses purpose-built DSP — bowed-string and reed waveguides, lip-reed brass oscillators, modal mallet synthesis, Karplus-Strong plucks, and source-filter vocal models — with full MPE awareness from day one: per-voice pitch bend, pressure, and timbre across 16 voices.
