Overview

EightOhEight is made to just be the bass. It starts with a sine-based 808 voice, a pitch envelope for the thump, and a click-free retrigger, so a new note restarts the envelopes without a pop. From there it runs through saturation, a state-variable filter, and a clean amp envelope. The main thing is the Mild→Wild knob: one automatable control that turns up drive, resonance and the pitch drop together, and trims the output so it gets nastier without just getting louder. So instead of tweaking five things while the beat is running, you can ride one knob from smooth sub to nasty distorted low end.
